Dinghy Instructor Course July 20th to 24th £320 to include instructors handbook. This comprehensive five-day instructor course (minimum age 16) enables candidates to teach beginners up to Seamanship Skills and Spinnaker courses. Prerequisites include Seamanship Skills and successful completion of the Pre-assessment course Duration: the instructor course runs over 5 full days, usually Monday to Friday. It is important you are as prepared as possible before arriving at the centre, making sure you have read a current copy of G14, G4 and G11 before the course and please remember to bring these with you.(also available to buy from the centre) How it works: assessment is continuous throughout the week with a final day moderation; training will consist of on water practical sessions, land based simulator work and theory sessions. Course aims: you will learn coaching techniques, course management and group control; you will develop your theoretical knowledge, communication and presenting skills. Options on completion: successful completion of this course will provide you with a professional qualification enabling you to work in the UK or abroad as a recognised RYA instructor. Accommodation: (Can be arranged locally extra cost charged) Course Enquiry: please call the centre and talk to our in-house trainer to discuss any requirements regarding this course. Current Vacancies Yard Hand Part-time We currently are recruiting for a Yard Hand to assist with the daily operations in and around our centre. You will be involved in general duties and maintenance at the centre always ensuring a quick response to management requests. The suitable applicant must be honest, trustworthy and presentable and ideally with a full driving clean licence. Being a small charity you would be expected to help and pitch in as required, with a willingness to learn new skills. Preferably computer literate. Job may include serving customers, working in the yard or warehouse consisting of launching and retrieving boats, general boat maintenance grass cutting, and general centre maintenance Hours required will vary from a normal 10-15 hours with a minimum 5 up to maximum of 25 hours the availability to work some Saturdays and Sunday will be required as well as some days during the week
Current Vacancies Volunteer Coordinator This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the volunteer programs associated with all areas of Harbour Challenge Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment of volunteers for Harbour Challenge’s various areas. Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers. Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers as required. Maintains updated records on all volunteers. Sets up and attends volunteer meetings. Reports to senior staff on volunteer activities as needed. Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization. Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program.
