Non Residential Accelerated Instructor Course

The cost of the Accelerated instructor course is £3999 (non residential) and runs for 50 weeks includes 13 weeks work experience. This includes all training, use of the equipment and facilities at the centre and transport on the programme. It also includes the fees associated with the British Canoe Union (BCU) star tests and coaching qualifications and the fee's associated with the Royal Yachting Association.
The Accelerated instructor course is based at Harbour Challenge in Poole Dorset. This provides the ideal location to run our instructor training course, with the centre being based on the shores of Poole Harbour we have one of the perfect locations to learn to windsurf, sail, kayak and with the cliffs in Portland and Swanage climbing is just 30 minutes away. To improve your climbing and navigation Dartmoor National Park a 2 hours’ drive away with the Class II-III waters of the River Dart are just ideal for the odd trip down the Dart to experience some white water With our unique location and teamed with local knowledge, means we can use these venues to suit your needs.
We have very comprehensive range of equipment within our stores, including several fleets of white water kayaks, sea kayaks, general touring boats as well as canadian canoes. We have a very large fleet of sailing boats from single and double handers to high performance boats. These boats, together with our comprehensive climbing racks, harnesses, helmets and camping gear, are all available for you to use in your own time. We believe this enables you to get maximum practice time in and make the most of your time at Harbour Challenge, We are also aware that people learn at different speeds and so being able to spend extra time brushing up on skills can be invaluable.
The instructors running this training scheme are our permanent staff team, between us we have over 50 years of delivering high quality instruction which has enabled us to gain a very large customer base. Our instructors have a wealth of qualifications between them and all instructor courses are externally assessed.
We also offer regular one to one sessions with the trainee instructors, giving you the opportunity for individual feedback and the chance to discuss course progress, career options or any other issues you may wish. Weekly lectures from the staff team will be delivered to you on subjects such as the weather, child protection and risk assessments, in order to give you a broader knowledge of the industry. We will also provide dedicated job hunting sessions where staff help students with CVs, applications and interview preparation.
