We understand there are plenty of reasons why you might not be able to complete your Expedition with your school or local group. All is not lost! Come and join an open group of like-minded individuals and achieve your Gold Kayaking and Canoe Expeditions.

Here at Harbour Challenge Outdoor Activity Centre in Poole, we have decades of industry knowledge, highly trained leaders and quality kit. We will be with you throughout the process and we even create a closed Facebook page to get the planning discussions started and help you get to know people on your Expedition!

To take part in the Gold DofE Gold Kayaking and Canoe Expedition, you must be at a British Canoeing 2* level paddling. If you haven’t got this yet and you live near Poole, click here for how we can help with a discounted price

We run our Practice over four days and three nights and our Qualifying over five days and four nights. Both Expeditions contain a full day's training and familiarization at the beginning.

Practice Expedition

During your Practice Expedition, teams will be remotely supervised and offered further instruction until they are confident that the teams are fully ready to be independent. They will then be monitored remotely purely for safety purposes. On arriving back at camp, our leaders will supervise the camping and cooking arrangement and each team will be de-briefed by their leader.

Qualifying Expedition

Groups are remotely supervised and assessed by our qualified DofE Assessor to allow them to safely complete their Expedition. Following completion, the Assessor with debrief all groups and complete the dreaded paperwork!
