Here at Harbour Challenge, our Instructor Programme offers more nationally recognised qualifications than most!
You’ll achieve 11 NGB qualifications and two instructor qualifications - allowing you to work as an instructor anywhere in the world. PLUS you will get loads of other essential industry training like first aid, coasteering and archery, a subsidised kit package AND three month’s work experience.
The course starts twice a year – April and September and takes a total of 9 months. It may take longer than other options but we firmly believe that as well as time to instruct you to achieve your awards, you’ll need some extra time to really get to grips with what you’re learning - to be the best coach you can. So each qualification has extended practice built-in.
As a charity and a small organisation, we currently only take a maximum of 6 per intake – so during your three month work experience, you’ll become an integral part of the team here – not just a number.
They say to get a job you need experience, but how do you get experience without a job? With us here at Harbour Challenge, we include three months’ work experience at our busy Centre in Poole Harbour. You will be working alongside experienced instructors and take sessions with clients, schools and Duke of Edinburgh groups. All perfect experience for when you apply for your next Outdoor Adventure role – which could be with us!
