Paddle Start is aimed at someone who is new to paddling - so if you haven't been before this course is where you should....start! British Canoeing certification is also free for this course and is emailed directly to you.
This is a super introduction to Kayaking, a super sport! Kayaking is a really back-to-basics water sport; it's just you, your kayak, and the water - how extreme you want to be is entirely up to you. Whether you want to explore inland waterways, surf breaking waves, or negotiate charging white water rapids, there is a style of kayaking out there to suit almost anyone.
You’ll find a British Canoeing award is needed for membership to many clubs but it’s also the passport to the rest of your paddling journey!
Using our fleet of modern kayaks, the course will cover:
- Lifting, carrying and launching
- Forward paddling 100m
- Steering and controlling your craft
- Return to the bank and get out
- Rescue Skills
- Safety and Leaderships
- General paddling theory
Our fully trained Instructors will ensure that all the building blocks are in place in a fun safe environment designed to ensure you reach your full potential.
Money from every activity you purchase goes directly to helping those less fortunate to try the same activities. You can see where your money makes a difference by checking out our charity page for our latest projects.
Harbour Challenge is easy to find - we are in the centre of Hamworthy Park in Poole. You can leave your car at Hamworthy Park Surface Car Park and take a short walk to the Centre. Please note that this is now a pay and display carpark between March to October.
Take the main path through the park, walk past the paddling pool and cafe to the cream-coloured building at the end of the park. This is the main Harbour Challenge Centre.
