Permanent Role Centre Senior   £18000 to £25500 depending upon experience and qualifications. (Grade 18) Position Filled

·         Hours 8.5hrs per day usually between 8am and 6pm seven days on 3 days off. Proper notice will be given if the normal pattern of work is changed (Normally 10 Days)

Main Roles and Responsibilities 

 Running a wide range of RYA and BCU courses – from beginner to advance to both adults and children.

  • Assisting with the organisation and delivery of our Schools & Groups programme.
  • Team delivering fun, active and rewarding trips to the youngsters that come to us. 
  • To assist with the practical delivery of all water based courses
  • Overseeing junior Instructors - assisting and advising where necessary. 
  • Duty Senior – on shore SI – being responsible for the Centre in the absence Chief Instructor.

  • RYA Powerboat Instructor
  • Level 2 Kayak Coach
  • RYA Dinghy / Windsurfing Instructor
  • DofE Assessor

  • Lowland Leader or higher
  • Previous experience working within an busy multi activity centre

Job Description

  • Support the Centre Principal with all activity related programs.
  • Supervise and offer leadership to junior instructors and apprentices.
  • Act as a technical expert for all activities provided by Harbour Challenge where you hold the senior qualification.
  • Teach and lead activities offered by Harbour Challenge.
  • Ensure that activity equipment is safe and serviceable before use.
  • Ensure that all Safety Guidelines and Risk Assessments are adhered to.
  • Ensure outdoor activity sessions run to timetable.
  • Ensure that the centre is open in time for staff and clients arriving each day
  • Ensure that changing rooms, showers and training room are cleaned, opened and locked and bins emptied at the end of each activity day and set ready for the next day.
  • Ensure that the compound and containers locked, and bins emptied at the end of each activity day.
  • Maintain equipment on activity sites.
  • In non-activity time help with general maintenance in and around the main building and all equipment.
  • Be a key driver of the development of new activities for the Company.
  • Advise the Centre Principal of current issues relating to outdoor activities.
  • Assist the Domestic and Catering staff from time to time.
  • Assist and help with all requirements of registration for centre inspections.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the Company’s uniform policy at all times.

Outdoor Instructor – Multiple positions available (2019 season) (Grade 15)

Harbour Challenge Outdoor Activity Centre– exciting multi-activity centre, on the shores of Poole Harbour.

We are looking for qualified instructors who love the outdoors to come and join the best team in the industry.

2 x 6 month contracts available Start Date - 14th April 2019  

2 x 4 month contracts available Start Date - 14th May 2019
